Assign Employee to Job

Explanation

This activity is used to assign a job to an employee. You can link an employee to multiple jobs, however, there can only be one primary job assignment for an employee at any given time. The job assignment is more or less a prerequisite in order to run some of the strategic HR processes. The job holds, e.g. the requirements in terms of competency, merits, experiences, education etc. Connecting the employee to a job also puts the employee in a default grade range.

Prerequisites

In order to perform this activity, job IDs are required to be already defined in the Job Details window.

Procedure

To assign jobs using the Employee window.

  1. Open the Employee window.
  2. Search or populate to find the required employee.
  3. Go to the Employee/Employment/Assignment/Job Details tab and create a new record.
  4. Specify the job that should be employee in the Job ID field. Select a value using the list.
  5. Specify the validity of the job assignment using the Valid From and Valid To fields.
  6. If the job assignment is the primary assignment for the specified period, select the Primary check box.
  7. Save the information.

To assign jobs using the Job Assignment window.

  1. Open the Job Assignment window and create a new record.
  2. Specify the employee for whom you want to assign job in the Emp ID field.
  3. Specify the job that should be employee in the Job ID field. Select a value using the list.
  4. Specify the validity of the job assignment using the Valid From and Valid To fields.
  5. If the job assignment is the primary assignment for the specified period, select the Primary check box.
  6. Save the information.
