The top level of product design contains the product model. The product model is the basis for construction of complete products. Each model can be connected to one engineering part, and this part is referred to as the top part. The top part may consist of other engineering parts, also called child parts. For each model, you can connect functions defined in Product Basic Data/Functions. The functions can be organized in a hierarchical structure, and functions on the lowest level in the structure can be connected to the top part or the top part's child parts. A typical product could be a PC and the model could be a PC Pentium II, 450 MHz. Product models are defined in Products and Models.
The parts that build up a model are connected together in a hierarchical structure. The structure is built by using Engineering Part Revision/Consist Of.
A model with functions connected can be removed if the functions are not connected to parts. If parts are connected to functions, you cannot remove the model.
