Things described here are only valid if PrintServer is used. There are three different things to define, report user printers, report printers and user printers.
All tasks described here is to be managed by a system manager or an equivalent person.
You can define exceptions from rules you earlier have defined between, on one hand users and printers (optionally combined with a language), and on the other hand reports and printers (optionally combined with a language). There is a possibility to combine those two combinations of printout alternatives. A printer will then be selected by the following priority order:
If a printer, for the report, is not found in the system, the document will not be printed. Then, there is always a possibility to use Info Services to search for the report and print the report/document to any printer you want.
You can connect reports to different printers and thereby manage on which printer you want to print out a report. Optionally you can define a printer for special character sets by defining a language. This provides the facility to use a specific printer for special character sets. This type of connections is used when you have to print out reports on a specific printer dedicated just for that reason. Examples on reports that could be suitable to print out on a certain printer are:
Reports for administration as
Reports for shipment as
Reports for inventory as
Reports you can connect to a printer are standard reports for the installed components. Printers you can connect to are the ones entered as logical printers.
You can connect users to different printers and thereby manage a users possibilities to do printouts on different printers. Here also you can use the language parameter to print special character sets. Printers you can connect to are the ones entered as logical printers.
