Define Report Printers

Explanation

Use this activity to select the printer used for printing a selected report. This is useful when you wish to specify the printer used when for printing specified reports, e.g., checks, invoices, or special forms. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.

Different printers may be used for different printing needs. The printer that is used depends on the connections between both the report and printer (combined with an optional language), and between the user and printer (combined with an optional language).

For example, you may want to use one printer for printing administrative reports, such as order confirmations or invoice debits and credits. Another printer may be designated for printing shipment reports, such as delivery notes or customer order pick lists. Yet another printer might be used for printing inventory reports, such as manufacturing order or material requisition pick lists, and arrival documents.

The logical printer record allows you to connect logical printers to specific reports. This may be useful, for example, when a report must be printed on special stationery or when a report must be printed at a particular location.
