Connect Craft to Site

Explanation

This activity is used to connect individual crafts or craft structures to sites.

Please note that within IFS/Vehicle Information Management the term Craft is referred to as Competence.

Prerequisites

• Crafts and craft structures should be defined in the Organization Basic Data/Craft Catalog tab or the Instruction Basic Data/Competence tab.
• IFS Human Resources must have been installed and jobs must have been defined if you want to create a link between a craft and HR (human resource) job.

System Effects

• The craft or craft structure will be connected to a site.
• If the craft is connected to a HR job ID, you will be able to utilize any of the HR competencies and licenses defined for the HR job ID, when searching for employees who fulfill the necessary requirements to perform work on a work order operation.

Procedure

Use the following procedure to connect a craft to a site in IFS/Maintenance:

1. Open the Organization Basic Data window and click the Craft To Site tab.
2. Connect the craft in one of the following ways:

• To connect an entire craft structure, right-click on the window and click Copy Structures. The Copy Structures dialog box appears. Select or specify the craft structures top node in the structure and the site to which the craft structure should be connected to in the Craft and Site fields. Click List to select suitable values.
• Create a new record (F5). Enter values for the following fields: Craft ID, Site, Belongs to Craft (if you want to create new structures), and Rate/h.

3. Create a link between individual crafts and jobs in IFS Human Resources by entering a value in the HR Job ID field, if required.
4. Save the information (F12).

Use the following procedure to connect a competence to a site in IFS/Vehicle Information Management:

1. Open the Instruction Basic Data window and click the Competence per Site tab.
2. Connect the competence (craft) in one of the following ways:

• To connect an entire craft structure, right-click on the window and click Copy Structures. The Copy Structures dialog box appears. Select or specify the craft structures top node in the structure and the site to which the craft structure should be connected to in the Craft and Site fields. Click List to select suitable values.
• Create a new record (F5). Enter values for the following fields: Craft ID, Site, Belongs to Craft (if you want to create new structures), and Rate/h.

3. Create a link between individual crafts and jobs in IFS Human Resources by entering a value in the HR Job ID field, if required.
4. Save the information (F12).
