Connect a Part to a NATO Stock Number
Explanation
This activity is used to connect parts in IFS/Part Catalog to a NATO Stock Number (NSN). The following rules
apply:
- One NSN can be connected to one or more part numbers.
- One part number can be connected to only one NSN.
- If several part numbers are connected to one NSN, only one of the
part numbers can be
the preferred part number of the NSN.
- If only one part number is connected to one NSN, that part number is automatically the
preferred part number of the NSN.
Prerequisites
- The NSN must have been defined.
- The part(s) must have been defined in IFS/Part Catalog.
System Effects
- Information on the NSN for a part number is available in the
application.
- A mismatch entry is generated in the Part and
Stock Numbers Mismatch window if,
- The part is a sales part (inventory) which is connected to an
inventory part with a different part number.
- The part is a non-inventory sales part which is connected to a
purchase part with a different part number.
- The NSN for the sales part is different to the NSN for the connected
inventory/purchase part.
