Work Task Preference

Explanation

This activity is used to view and register resource preferences on work tasks. When a job is to be carried out, resources can be registered in the work tasks as preferred resources. Further, there can be preferred resources registered for  the object or the location. Preferences registered on the object or the location, will get inherited to the work task when registering a work task. Finally, once the work task is scheduled, the prioritization will be given to the preferred set of resources, over other resources.

When registering preferences directly on the work task, it is mandatory to enter a Resource ID and Preference. The Preference, can be 0, 1 or any value between 0 and 1. Entering a preference of 1 indicates that no other resources to be considered for the job, and a value of 0 restrict using such resource on the job. A value between 0 and 1, such as 0.5, works in a sliding scale of preference. The field 'Preference Source' can have values such as Functional Object, Serial Object, Work Task or Location and 'Source ID' displays the identity of the source of the preference.
