Work Task Availability

Explanation

This activity is used to view and define the availability of a work task. The availability for a work task can be inherited from the equipment object on the the work task. If no availability has been defined for the equipment object then the availability defined on the location which is connected to the work task address will decide when the work can be scheduled. Location availabilities will however never be visible on the work task itself.  A work task availability can be set manually according the requirement and will override both the availability defined on the location and on the equipment object. 

Once a work task is created for an equipment object, the availability of the object will be fetched to the work task, based on the work type and the priority defined on the work task. If the availability for the work task is not defined or not inherited from the connected equipment object, then the availability of the location connected with the work task address will be used for the work task availability when scheduling the activities for the work task.

• If a work task has been created for a serial object, then the availability is retrieved from the serial object. If availability information are not available on the serial object, availability is retrieved from the parent serial object or functional object.
• If a work task has been created for a functional object the availability is retrieved from the functional object

Prerequisites

• A calendar must have been defined in the Work Time Calendar/Calendar window.

As a result of this activity, availability information is set for the work task.

Procedure

Follow the given procedure to define availability of a work task manually:

1. Open the Work Task window.
2. Query for an existing work task or create a new.
3. Go to the Scheduling/Work Task Details tab.
4. Create a new record (F5).
5. In the Calendar ID field, enter the Calendar that defines the Availability of the work task. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
6. For the Start Based field, use the drop down to select a valid value. It determines whether the work has to be completed within the availability window or whether it only needs to be started within the availability window.
7. For the Location Override field, use the drop down to select  a valid value. It determines whether the availability of the work task should override the availability of the location for the work task.
8. Save the information (F12).
