Update Plan Changes
Explanation
Use this activity to update relevant work assignments with changes coming
from the scheduled plan from Planning and Scheduling Optimization (PSO). By
performing this activity work assignments will be updated with the latest
scheduled plan from PSO. The fields that can be updated on the work assignment
is Allocated Start, Allocated Finish and Duration.
When a work assignment is created by a commit from PSO or by the SDS it will
be created with the data in the plan from where it was committed. If there has
been
changes to the activity in the coming plans after the commit, this will be denoted on the allocation
record from the suggested plan by that the check-box Plan Changes will be set
on the allocation.
The allocation records can be found in Service and Maintenance/Work
Task Management/Scheduled Work Tasks or in Service and Maintenance/Work Task Management/Work
Task/Scheduling/Allocation
To update the work assignment to the information provided in the latest plan
select the option Update Plan Changes from the right mouse
button option available on such allocations.
it is also possible to set up a Scheduled Dataset Task to continuously run
the Update Plan Changes function for allocations that has been
changed after they were committed.
Prerequisites
- A work task with a resource demand must exist
- The activity for the work task needs to be scheduled and committed in
PSO so that a work assignment is created.
- The work assignment must be in status Assigned or Accepted.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, work assignments on the
work task will be updated with the information from the latest scheduled plan
from PSO.

Procedure
- Go to Service and Maintenance/Work Task Management/Scheduled
Work Tasks. Query for a scheduled work task record that is
marked with Plan Changes (Check-box). Make sure that the work assignment
status for the record is either in Assigned or Accepted.
- Right click on the record and select Update Plan Changes.
- The Work Assignment will be updated with the data from the
latest scheduled plan for the activity.
Optional: Create a Scheduled Database Task for Update Plan Changes
- Go to Solution Manager/Background Processing/Scheduled
Database Tasks. Create a new record (F5)
- Enter a Schedule Name.
- Open the List of Values in Database Task. Select the Database Task named
Scheduled Plan Changes.
- Define when to perform the Scheduled Task
- Enter the ID of the scheduling dataset that the background job should be
applicable for. Use % to denote that the background job will run for all
Datasets.
- In Work Assignment Status set the status for uptil when it is allowed to
update a work assignment from the background job. Applicable values are
Assigned, Accepted and OnRoute.
- Define the Plan Change (in Minutes). If the difference between the
activity allocated start of the latest plan and the work assignment is less
than this value, the work assignment will not be updated to the latest
scheduled plan.
- Save.
- Activate the Scheduled Database Task.
