About Reporting

[Using IFS Enterprise Explorer Clients] [About Extracting Information] [To Extracting Information in Enterprise Explorer]

Explanation

All IFS Applications reports are managed via Reporting. This is where you find functions to print, distribute and schedule reports as well as the Report Archive where you can find all printed reports. It also contains the Query Builder and Quick Reports.

Reporting is divided into two parts.

Figure 1: Reporting in the Navigator

Operational Reporting

Order Report/Reports

Order reports via the navigator node Operational Reporting/Order Report or Operational Reporting/Reports. Once you have selected a report the report parameters dialog will be displayed where you enter the selection criteria. Note that many reports can also be printed directly from IFS Application pages. For instance, an invoice page might have an operation to create and print the invoice. This direct printing is a quicker, more convenient way to print reports when it's available. Completed reports are placed in the Report Archive where they are stored until they expire. Note that you can also schedule report printing to be executed more than once or at a specified date time etc. Read more in Order Reports

Distribution Groups

Distribution groups can be used when distributing report results to users. The Distribution Groups are managed via Distribution Groups.

Print Manager

The Print Manager lists all print jobs and this function is mainly used by the System Administrator to track problems with printing reports.

Scheduled Reports

Report Schedules are used to control the execution of reports. Use this when you want to execute a report more than once or at a specified date time etc. without operator assistance. When scheduling a report you specify report parameters and other settings such as report language, date-time format, distribution details, as well as actions to be taken once the report had been executed.  Once the Report Schedule has been created the report will be executed at specified intervals. Read more in Use Schedule Reports.

Report Archive

All your printed operational reports are stored in the Report Archive and remain there until their expiration date when they area automatically removed. Use the report archive when you want to reprint an already printed report. The Reporting/Archived Reports navigator node includes explore nodes, e.g. filter nodes. Click on an explore node and the result will automatically be presented in the Archived Reports page. E.g. if you click on the Ordered Today node all reports you have ordered today will be presented in the page. Read more in Report Archive.

Ad-Hoc Reporting

Query Builder

Query Builder is used to build your own quick reports. The report will be available under Quick Reports with the type "Query Builder".

Quick Reports

Quick Reports can be used to print out any information from IFS Applications based on Query Builder, SQL statements, Crystal Reports etc. When running a Quick Report the result is presented in a table/overview page. Quick Reports other than Query Builder reports are usually defined by the System Administrator, read about how to create Quick Reports in the Administration Guide in the Technical Documentation. Read more about Using Quick Reports.
