Scrap Serial
Explanation
This activity is used to set the operational status of a serial to
Scrapped. Scrapped serials will not be available for operation and
maintenance.
Prerequisites
- The serial cannot be connected to a parent. You must disconnect the
serial from its structure before you can perform this activity.
- The serial must have an operational status of Out Of Operation.
- Running maintenance events cannot exist for the serial or any of its children.
- Active transportation routes cannot exist for the serial or any of its
children.
- The serial and its children cannot be connected to approved operational
budgets.
- The serial cannot be connected to a flight log
that is in either the Open or Amendment status.
- The serial cannot be in inventory (i.e., the value of the Current
Position field should not be In Inventory).
System Effects
- The operational status for all serials in the entire structure is set to
Scrapped.
- The operational condition for the serial and all serials in the
structure is set to Non Operational.
- The current position for the serial being scrapped is set to Unlocated.
- All pending maintenance events are deleted.
- A serial with an operational status of Scrapped can be removed.
- A history record is generated for the scrapped serial in the
Part Serial History window.

Procedure
- Open the Serial Structure Information window and query (F3) for the
necessary serial.
- Click the General tab.
- Right-click on the tab, point to Status, and then click Scrap.
- A message requesting confirmation of your selection appears. Click OK to change the
operational status of the serial to Scrapped.
- If the Condition Code functionality is enabled for the part, the Change
Condition Code dialog box opens. Use this dialog box to change the condition code of the serial
part.
