Define Control Plan Template Lines
Explanation
Each control plan template consists of two levels: a header and one or more lines. This activity is used to create
new control plan template lines.
For each control plan template line, the sample size has to be calculated when
an analysis is created. To calculate the sample size, an inspection code has to
be defined.
The inspection type specifies whether the sample size is based on a fixed
quantity or a sample percentage of the order size. It is not possible to use
Percentage as the inspection type for parts that are used as a production
schedule parts.
Prerequisites
- The control plan template header
must be created.
- At least one Norm type must have been created.
- At least one inspection code must have been defined.
- For manufacturing control plan
templates, one or more work centers need to be defined.
- For manufactured parts, it is
recommended that you also use routing templates to minimize the risk of
unwanted errors when applying the control plan template to control plans or
parts.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, one or more control plan
template lines are created. The
inspection code selected in the control plan line, will control the sample size
for each data point when the analyses are created. The
inspection code selected in the control plan line will control the sample size
for each data point when the analyses are created.

Procedure
From the Control Plan Template - Manufacturing
- Create a new record.
- Note that the
Data Point field
is system-generated.
- Enter the
Routing Operation No.
This is a required field.
- Enter the
Work Center No
or use the list of values to select a work center.
- Enter a value for the Test Operation No. If you leave the field blank, the value is system-generated but it can be changed later. The first line created is number 10, the second is number 20, the
third is number 30, and so on.
- Enter the
Test Operation Description. This is a required field.
- To make it mandatory to attach a media item to the
result, select the Media Required check box.
- Enter information in the
Evaluation Measurement Technique field, if
appropriate.
- Enter information in the
Engineering Drawing Reference field, if
appropriate.
- Enter the
Norm Type, or use the List of Values to choose from the
available norm types. This is a required field.
- Enter information in the
Machine/Process/Tool,
Process Characteristic,
Product Characteristic, and
Special Characteristic Classification fields, if
appropriate.
- Select Attributes,
Variables or Categorical in the
Data Type list.
- If the data type is set to Categorical, enter a
Category ID or use the List of Values to choose from the available category
IDs.
- If the data type is set to Variable, enter information about the tolerance limits in the
Outer Min,
Inner Min,
Nominal Value,
Inner Max and
Outer Max fields. The
nominal value is required, together with either the
combination Inner Min/Inner Max or Outer Min/Outer Max.
- Enter an Inspection Code or select one from the List of Values.
- Enter information in the Sample Frequency and
Control Method
fields.
- Enter information in the
Reaction Plan and
Notes fields.
- Save when complete.
Note: If the control plan template contains one
or more control plan lines defined as Categorical, a Category Entry Type value
must have been selected in the header section to be able to activate the
template.
