Analyze Synchronization Messages

Explanation

This activity is used to analyze Synchronization Messages that occur during the synchronization between IFS Applications and Primavera Project Management. To have a successful synchronization, it is necessary to create projects that follow the requirements of the synchronization and the business logic of both applications. When issues arise in synchronization, synchronization messages will give valuable information in order to rectify data in IFS/Project or Primavera.

There are of two types Synchronization Messages; Warning messages and Exception messages.

Warning messages will check for the most fundamental differences in business logic between IFS/Project and Primavera and describes a situation that would not lead to a synchronization failure, but there may be a loss or change of data.

Exception messages are information about exceptions give information about data that may need to be rectified for a successful synchronization. Exception message indicates that an object was not successfully inserted or updated which is often due a violation of a business rule. Exception messages would lead to a synchronization failure.

The synchronization message gives a suggestion of where to rectify the problem, including in which application to do this and if relevant, specifically in which project, sub project or activity where this correction could take place. There can however be more than one alternative to how to eliminate many situations.
