Modify Components

Explanation

Use this activity to modify a component structure.

Prerequisites

• A component structure should exist.
• Supply requests like shop orders and purchase requisitions should not exist on the items.
• Item status should be Planned.

System Effects

Delete operation deletes the selected project deliverable item and its underlying component structure.

Disconnected items will be flagged as 'disconnected' and no longer shown in component structure. However, these items can be re-connected to the same parent item or to a new parent item, within the same component structure, by using the Connect Item option.

Procedure

Delete a component structure in General tab or Components tab:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and search for an item.
2. Expand the structure and select an item.
3. Open General tab or Components tab.
4. Right-click and then click Delete Structure.
5. Click Yes to continue the delete operation, or No to cancel it.
6. Click OK to close information message.

Disconnect an item in Project Deliverables Navigator/Components tab:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and search for an item.
2. Expand the structure and select an item.
3. Open the Components tab.
4. Right-click and then click Disconnect Item.

Reconnect an item in Project Deliverables Navigator/Components tab

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and search for an item.
2. Expand the structure and select an item.
3. Open the Components tab.
4. Right-click and then click Connect Item.
5. Select items to be included in Connect Item dialog.
6. Click OK.

Find disconnected items in one component structure, by using Project Deliverables Definition window:

1. Open the Project Deliverable Definition window and search for a definition record.
2. Open Items tab.
3. Click on Disconnected Item column to sort and find disconnected items.

Find disconnected items in one or many component structures, by using Project Deliverables Items window:

1. Open the Project Deliverable Items window and search for items.
2. Click on Disconnected Item column to sort and find disconnected items.

Move an item with drag and drop in Project Deliverables Navigator tree:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and search for an item.
2. Expand the structure and select an item.
3. Left-click and hold down the button on a sub item in the tree.
4. Move the mouse curser and release mouse button on a another sub item.

Move an item with cut and paste in Project Deliverables Navigator tree:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and search for an item.
2. Expand the structure and select an item.
3. Right-click and then click Cut.
4. Expand the structure and select an item.
5. Right-click and then click Paste.
