Procedure

Create a navigation model and add attribute values:

  1. Open the Project Deliverable Definition window and populate it with records.
  2. Open the Navigation Models tab.
  3. Right-click and then click Create Navigation Model.
  4. In Create Navigation Model dialog, enter a Model ID and a Model Name.
  5. Make sure that the option Create Blank Model is selected and click OK.
  6. Right-click on the new record and then click Navigation Model.
  7. Open the Navigation Model/Base Attributes tab.
  8. Create a new record and add an attribute by using the List of Values.
  9. Open the Navigation Model/Edit Structure tab.

Note: Attribute values shown in the Project Deliverables Navigator tree, are retrieved from the Navigation Model/Edit Structure tab. These attribute values and how they are used in the Project Deliverables Navigator tree, is described here: Filter Items by Using Navigation Model.

  1. In the Child Attribute Values pane, create a new record.
  2. Open the List of Value for Attribute ID field and select an attribute.
  3. Open List of Values for Value ID field and select one or many records.
  4. Notice how this creates a top level of attribute values.
  5. Select one of the top attribute values and continue with adding sub levels.

Note: It's efficient to first add a value in Attribute ID field, because that enables multi-selection in List of Values for the Value ID field. Several child attribute values can be added in one single step. Also notice how a defined sort order on attribute values, make the single and multi-selection of attribute values much easier. The sort order is defined during the creation of attributes, as described here: Create Item Attribute and Attribute Values.

Create a navigation model by selecting an existing model:

  1. Open the Project Deliverable Definition window and populate it with records.
  2. Open the Navigation Models tab.
  3. Right-click and then click Create Navigation Model.
  4. In Create Navigation Model dialog, enter a Model ID and a Model Name.
  5. Select the option Copy From Existing Model.
  6. Toggle on/off the check box Template. Once checked, it will filter the LOV to show navigation models marked as template. Once unchecked it will show all navigation models. Note: A navigation model is marked as a template once saved as described here: Save Navigation Model as Template.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Review the new model, right-click on the new record and then click Navigation Model.
