Generate Line Schedule

Explanation

Use this function to generate line schedules for a specific part and line. Line schedules can also be generated via MRP, Master Scheduling, or manually by entering individual schedule lines. By entering parameters for the schedule quantities and dates, you can quickly generate a basic line schedule for the part.

Prerequisites

A production line with an assigned line calendar must be defined. The part must be defined for the production line before a production schedule can be created. The part must have schedule horizons defined. The part must be of one of the following part types: Manufactured, Manufactured Recipe, Purchased, or Expense.  

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system creates a line schedule based on the parameters you specified.

Procedure

From Production Schedule by Line or Production Line Management/Current Production Schedule window:

  1. Search for the manufactured line for which you wish to generate a line schedule.
  2. Select Generate Line Schedule by using the right-click option.
  3. Select the manufactured part for which you wish to generate a line schedule in the Part No field. Use the List of Values to select from available parts.
  4. Enter the date range desired to generate the schedule in the From Date and To Date fields.
  5. Specify the frequency in days the schedule quantity should be generated in the Frequency in Days field, if a frequency other than the default of 1 is desired.
  6. Enter the initial schedule quantity in the Starting Qty field. Enter a step quantity in the Step Qty field, if the schedule should increase or decrease through the date range. As an alternative, enter an ending quantity in the End Qty field and select the Calculate Step Quantity to calculate the step quantity.
  7. If the daily quantities are to be spread into multiple scheduled receipts within a single day, mark the Distribute Within Days check box. Select the time period for when to schedule the quantities in the Distribution Method list. If the Within Periods is selected in the Distribution Method list, enter a value in the Frequency in Min field to divide the quantity proportionally into the number of periods in the day according to the number of working minutes.
  8. Mark the Replace Existing Schedule check box to replace all schedule records for the specified date range.
  9. Click OK to generate and view the new schedule.
  10. Optionally, add or modify the packing instruction for generated line(s)

From Production Schedule by Line Part window:

  1. Search for the manufactured part for which you wish to generate a line schedule.
  2. Right-click and select Generate Line Schedule.
  3. Select the manufactured line for which you wish to generate a line schedule in the Production Line field. Use the List of Values to select from available production lines.
  4. Enter the date range desired to generate the schedule in the From Date and To Date fields.
  5. Specify the frequency in days the schedule quantity should be generated in the Frequency in Days field, if a frequency other than the default of 1 is desired.
