Calculate DOP Costs

Explanation

This activity is used to calculate costs related to a DOP structure.

Prerequisites

The structure and standard cost must be calculated and saved, and copied to cost set one for the parts included in the DOP structure.

As a result of this activity, the selected cost types are calculated for the requested scope.

Procedure

You can generate costs for a site/structure either by direct execution (Procedure A) or by scheduling the task to execute as a background job (Procedure B).

Procedure A:

To generate costs for a DOP structure:

  1. Open the DOP Header, or DOP Order window and search for the DOP ID to calculate costs for.
  2. In the Cost tab, right click in the tree structure view (valid for DOP Header window), or anywhere in the table (valid for DOP Order window) and the click Calculate DOP Cost.

To save the standard cost of a configurable part the first time a configuration ID is used for parts defined with the Cost Per Configuration configuration cost method:

  1. Open the DOP Header window and then click the Detail tab.
  2. Right-click and then click Save Standard Cost
  3. At the prompt, click Yes.
  4. Continue processing the DOP structure.

To generate costs for a site:

  1. Open the Calculate DOP Costs dialog box.
  2. Select the site in the Site field. Use the List of Values to select from the available sites.
  3. In the DOP Cost Type area, select the type of costs you want calculated.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Alternatively, you can generate DOP costs for all the sites by selecting the All Sites check box.

Procedure B:

Click Schedule to open the New Database Task Schedule window. Set the scheduling parameters as desired and save. Scheduled tasks can be seen in Scheduled Database Tasks window.
