Specify Step Type Prepare Factor
Explanation
This activity is used to include a step of
the Prepare Factor type in a selected cost allocation procedure. Both
amount and quantity balances stored in ledgers and budgets can be used as the
basis for factor calculations, regardless of the allocation type of the
procedure.
Prerequisites
In order to perform this activity:
- A cost allocation procedure of the
Defined or Active status should exist.
- A factor of the Automatic type
should be connected to the procedure.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the following system
effects take place once the step is executed.
- The status of the selected factor of the
Automatic type will change to Prepared.
- The cost amounts to be posted to each code string
combination will be calculated based on the factor.

Procedure
To specify Prepare Factor step type:
- Open the PCA
Step Definition window and search for the procedure for which you
want to enter the step. (You can also open the
PCA Step Definition window by
right-clicking in the
Cost Allocation Procedures
window.)
- Create a new record in the table.

Enter a value in the Seq No field to specify
the sequence.
- Enter an ID for the step in the
Step ID field.
- Select Prepare Factor
for the Step Type field.
- In the Factor ID field, enter the ID of the
factor for which you want to perform this step. The List of Values can be
used to select the relevant factor.
- Enter a description for the step in
the Description field.
- Save the information.
