Define Fault Function
Explanation
This activity is used to define valid functions per fault codes. The
functional breakdown is used to identify where on the serial or vehicle a fault
occurred. Fault modes are based on the fault functions that are defined for a
product model.
Prerequisites
- Product models must be defined
- Function numbers must have been assigned to product models
- Fault codes must be defined
System Effects
- Fault functions for faults that have occurred during an operation or that
are found during maintenance of a vehicle can be registered.

Procedure
- Open the Operations and Fault Basic Data
window. You can also perform this activity by using the Maintenance
Program Basic Data window or the Function Structure Navigator
window.
- Click the
Fault
Function tab or the Fault Codes tab (if you are
working in the Function Structure Navigator window).
- Create a new record (F5).
- In the Product Number field, enter the product number of the
required product model. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- In the Model Number field, enter the model number of the product
model. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- In the Function Number field, enter the function number of the
function. Use the List of Values to select a value.
- In the Fault Code field, enter the fault code for the function.
Use the List of Values to select a value.
- In the Post Maint Check ID field and the Post Maint Check
Revision field, enter the identifier and revision of the post
maintenance check that is to be carried out after the fault event, which has
this fault function defined, has been finished. Use the List of Values to
select suitable values.
- Save the record (F12).
