Set Structure Component as Lot/Batch Origin

Explanation

Use this activity to set a connection between a parent part and one of its components.

Prerequisites

• A structure alternate in tentative status must exist.
• To inherit the Lot/Batch number, the Lot/Batch Tracking list must be set to Lot Tracking for the parent part in Part/General tab.
• To be used in Production Schedule backflush method Immediate must be selected.
• To be used in Production Schedule reporting points cannot be used at the same time.

System Effects

As a result of this activity the parent part will inherit the lot/batch number from the component with check box Lot/Batch Origin selected. Reserve and issue could only be done from one lot only (for the selected component)
Note: When selecting the Lot/Batch Origin check box, Expiration Date Origin check box will automatically be selected for that component.

Note: This value will be inherited to the order, where it will be editable.

Procedure

1. Display the parent part for which you want to name a lot/batch origin component, by populating or by making a selective query in the Product Structure or Recipe Structure window.
2. Select the Lot/Batch Origin check box on the row of the component you want the inheritance from.
3. Save the record (F12).
4. To be able to plan or use the structure, right-click in the structure alternate section and then click either Plan or Build.
