Use this activity to send an electronic signal requesting replenishment for any active Kanban circuit. The main system sends the signal to the appropriate supporting system. The selection of the supporting system depends on the replenishment source that you defined for the circuit and the supply preferences that you selected in the Inventory Part/Planning Data tab. The signal indicates the need for one full Kanban of a specified part from the replenishment source defined for the circuit. The system also provides support for external devices such as bar code readers, for signaling replenishment.
If you selected dock and subdock codes in the Kanban Circuit/Card Details tab, the system transfers these codes to the supplier schedule that is created.
This activity requires the existence of an active Kanban circuit that uses a signal type of either Electronic or Automatic (Reorder Point). Furthermore, if the replenishment source is Supplier and the supply type is Schedule, an active supplier agreement must exist for the supplier and part on the circuit before electronic replenishments can be generated.
As a result of this activity a Kanban request for replenishment is sent to the appropriate receiving system via this logic:
If the Circuit Replenish Source is... | And the Inventory Supply Type for Part is... | Then the Signal Type Generated is... |
