Set Preferred Resource

Explanation

Use this activity to allocate a specific work center resource to a shop order operation, or the operations in an operation block.

Prerequisites

• The operation cannot be CBS scheduled
• The operation may not have an active operation clocking

System Effects

As a result of this activity, shop order operation will receive a new preferred resource and it will get scheduled on this resource given that it is available.

Procedure

From Shop Order/Operations, Shop Order Operations and Operation Block/Connected Operations windows:

1. In the Preferred Resource field, specify the work center resource which you want to allocate to the operation. Use List of Values to select from the available resources.
2. Save.

From Operation Block and Operation Blocks windows:

1. In the Preferred Resource field, specify the work center resource which you want to allocate to the operations in the operation block. Use List of Values to select from the available resources. The selected resource will be set as the preferred resource for all operations in the operation block.
2. Select Save after performing the required operations.

To set preferred resource using the visualization view:

1. Open a visualizer enabled window and query for the site needed.
2. If the data view is displayed, click Visualization View on the title bar.
3. Right-click and click Select Visualization. The Select Visualization dialog box is opened.
4. Double-click Shop Order Machine Load.
5. Right-click and click Y-Axis/Shop Order Operation.
6. Select the inner segment representing the shop order operation you want to set the preferred resource for, right-click, point to Set Preferred Resource and click the resource you want to allocate to the operation.
