Reserve Serial Numbers for Shop Order

Explanation

Use this activity to reserve a range of serial numbers for a specific shop order or shop order requisition. When reserved to a shop order requisition, the serial numbers are transferred to the shop order created from the requisition. The reserved serial numbers are used when the system receives parts into inventory.

Note: If the inventory part has the structure effectively set to serial, only numeric values can be reserved as serial numbers. You cannot reserve serial numbers that already exist in the Part Serial window or that are reserved on another order.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that a shop order or shop order requisition has been created for the parent part for which the At Receipt and Issue check box is selected under the Serial Tracking area in the General tab of the Part window.
