Create Setup Matrix

Explanation

Use this activity to define a dependent setup matrix for a work center and characteristic code. The matrix is used by IFS/Constraint Based Scheduling (CBS).

Prerequisites

This activity requires the existence of a discrete characteristic code and its values.

The site needs to be a constraint based scheduling site. This is set up in Shop Order Scheduling Basic Data window.

System Effects

The system creates a dependent setup matrix for the work center and characteristic code. The from/to relationships for the dependent setup matrix are built from the characteristic code values. The relationships with the same from/to values are assigned a setup time of zero hours. The relationships with different from/to values are assigned a setup time equal to the default setup time hours.

Procedure

1. Open the Work Center window and search fot the relevant work center.
2. Select the Characteristics tab, select New and specify the characteristic code for the setup matrix.  Use the List of Values to choose from the available characteristic codes.
3. Enter a default setup time in hours.
4. Click Save.
5. Select the Setup Matrix check box . The lower section of the window will populate all possible from/to characteristic code value combinations.
6. Define the changeover setup time in hours for each from/to relationship.
