Analyze Parent Part Demand and Create Shop Order Requisition
Explanation
Use this activity to analyze the availability of parent
parts and, if
needed, create shop order requisitions of parent parts for the component to
be balanced out to.
Prerequisites
- Part to balance must be used as a component in
a buildable manufacturing structure alternate of the parent part.
- Manufactured part should not be a serial part
- Manufactured part should not be a configured
part
- Component part to balance should not be the same as the manufactured
part.
System Effects
As a result of this activity a shop order requisition
is created for the parent part demand and connected to the selected batch balance node.

Create Shop Order Requisition
Procedure
- Navigate to Batch Balance window
- Create a new batch balance header or query for an existing one.
- Select the node that corresponds to the component part for which you
want to find a parent part to balance against.
- Use the Batch Balance/Parent Availability Planning tab
to analyze supplies and demands for parent parts.
- If needed, right-click on the parent part that you want to create a shop order
requisition for and click Create
Shop Order Requisition. The Create Shop Order Requisition dialog box
appears.
- The Quantity field will be filled in with
the standard lot size for the part but can be changed.
- The Due Date field will be filled based on
the manufacturing lead time of the part but can be changed.
- The Structure Revision field will be filled in with the structure
revision valid on the current date but can be changed.
- The Structure Alternate field will be filled in with the
alternate corresponding to the quantity but can be changed to another buildable alternate.
- Press OK
