Optimize Storage on Connected Warehouses/Optimize Storage

Explanation

This activity is used to directly perform a storage optimization job that will trigger a move of any part to a location that better fits the location criteria for the part. The parts can be moved to any location at the selected site. A transport task will be created to perform the actual move of the part.

Note that the job will run on one or several remote warehouses depending on from where the user performs it.

Prerequisites

• The inventory part must have a putaway zone ranking in order to be moved.
• A remote warehouse assortment must have been created.

System Effects

If possible, transport tasks are created for inventory parts that can be moved to a better inventory location according to the putaway zone ranking. Any constraints, for example, weight or volume are taken into consideration.

Procedure

Optimize storage on connected warehouses from the Remote Warehouse Assortment window.

1. Open the Remote Warehouse Assortment window.
2. Right-click on the header and then click Optimize Storage on Connected Warehouses.

Note that the job will be executed on all remote warehouses that is connected to the remote warehouse assortment.

Optimize storage from the Remote Warehouse Assortment/Remote Warehouses tab.

1. Open the Remote Warehouse Assortment window and click on the Remote Warehouses tab.
2. Select one or several remote warehouses.
3. Right-click and then click Optimize Storage.

Note that the job will be executed on the selected remote warehouses.
