Enter Supply Chain Part Group

Explanation

Use this activity to enter the supply chain part groups that are used to group the inventory parts with the same requirements regarding ship via code, external transport lead time, distance, and cost information. The supply chain part groups enable you to work with supply chain parameter exceptions on a group level.

For example, this can be a supply chain part group for chilled goods that require a specific delivery mode.

The next step is to connect applicable inventory parts to this supply chain part group. Thereby exceptions can be defined for the entire group when setting up supply chain parameters.

Procedure

1. Open the Inventory Basic Data window.
2. Click the Supply Chain Part Group tab, and create a new record.
3. In the Supply Chain Part Group field, enter the short code for the supply chain part group. The entry can be maximum 20 characters long.
4. In the Description field, enter a description of the supply chain part group. The entry can be maximum 35 characters long.
5. Save your entry.
