Define the Structure Position to remove

Explanation

A modification can cause one or more structure positions in a template structure to become invalid. This activity is used to record these structure changes on the relevant modification revision.

Note that the template structure will not be updated automatically. Instead, you need to manually remove the structure position(s) from the template structure using either the Serial Structure Template window or the Template Structure Navigator window. For more information, refer the Remove Structure Position activity.

Prerequisites

• The modification revision must exist in the Preliminary status.
• The structure position that is to be removed must exist in the template structure.

System Effects

• Invalid structure positions can be removed from the template structure. To remove a template structure position, all serials and parts must be disconnected from this position in all corresponding serial structures.
• Once the modification is activated, the structure position is considered a removed structure position even though it might not have been removed from the template structure as yet. Removed structure positions will not be considered as part of the standard structure.

Procedure

1. Open the Define Modification window and query (F3) for the modification revision you want.
2. Click the Structure Impacts tab and then click the Template Changes sub tab.
3. Create a new record (F5).
4. In the Structure Impact Type list, click Remove Structure Position.
5. In the Template Part Number field, enter the template part number of the template part from which the structure position is to be removed. Use the List of Values to select a value.
6. In the Template Part Revision field, enter the preferred template part revision of the template part. Use the List of Values to select a value.
7. In the Impacted Structure Position field, enter the structure position that is affected by the modification. Use the List of Values to select a value.
8. Save the record (F12).
