Procedure
- Open the Competencies window.
- In the area on the left of the window, select the competency group under which
you want to register new competencies. You might need to expand the competency tree in
order to find the relevant competency group.
- In the Competencies tab, add a new record.
- In the Competency ID field, enter the identifier for the
competence.
- In the Competency Name field, enter the name of the competence.
- In the Competency Description field, you can enter a short
description of the competence.
- In the Duration field, you can enter the duration
of how long competency will be valid for employee from the moment of its
assignment. Duration can be
specified in months or years depending on the duration unit of the
competency.
If this field is left blank, there will be no specific duration.
- In the Duration Unit field, you can enter the time
unit used to measure how long the competency will be valid from the moment
of its assignment.
Note: This field should be filled in only if the Duration
field has been filled in.
Possible values are as follows:
- Month : The duration is measured
in months,
- Year : The duration is measured
in years,
- Day - The duration is measured in
days.
- In the Analysis Valid From and Analysis
Valid To fields, you can specify a time period during which the
competency will
appear in analysis windows.
- Select the Public Competency check box, if the
competency should be published in the Certificate Finder. If the
check box is cleared, the specified competency will not be available in the
Certificate Finder.
- In the Level Template ID field, you
can link the competency to a template which will automatically load for it a
set of predefined competency levels. If you do this now, you can skip the qualification level
assignment later.
Note: If you do this, the competency will become linked
with the template,
meaning that whenever a template is changed, all competencies using it
will have their levels changed as well.
If you do not want to assign any levels to your
competency, select the COMPETENCY_NO_LEVEL template.
- Save your changes.
