Connect Technical Class to Type Designation

Explanation

Use this activity to connect a technical class to a type designation. If you then associate the type designation with an equipment object, the technical attributes connected to the technical class will automatically be inherited by the equipment object.

Note: You cannot connect more than one technical class to a type designation.

Prerequisites

• The type designation must exist in Equipment Basic Data
• The technical class must have been entered in IFS/Application Services. 
• The attribute/attributes must have been connected to the technical class in IFS/Application Services.

System Effects

• A technical class is connected to a type designation. 
• This information will be inherited by equipment objects upon entering a type designation in the Functional Object or Serial Object windows.

Procedure

1. Open the Equipment Basic Data window, click the Type Designation tab, populate it and select a record.
2. Click Attachments.
3. Click Characteristics .
4. In Characteristics, right click and click Select Technical Class.
5. In the Technical Class field, use the List of Values to select a suitable value.
6. Click OK. The attributes are displayed.
