This process consists of registering and describing the product model functions. You use functions to view your product structure from a functional point of view. For example, an electrician needs a different view of the product structure than does a mechanic. It is entirely up to you to choose what functions you want to use.
You should describe the functions in a detailed fashion. The basis of what functions to describe are defined in the document created in the process Create Functional Description.
All functions for the model should be registered in the system. The basis of the registration is the functional description. The registering consists of the following steps:
Step 1: If the function does not exist, register the function.
The registration consists of defining the following parameters in Product Basic Data/Functions:
Step 2: If the product does not exist, create the product.
Step 3: If the product model does not exist, create the model.
Step 4: Copy or connect the functions.
Step 5: Enter product model function characteristics.
Step 6: Create a product model function structure.
You can build a structure of functions using "drag and drop" functionality. You can also connect engineering part revisions to functions, but the functions must then be at the bottom level in the function structure. Use Project Product/Function Structure tab to build the structure.
