Product Structure
The product structure defines the structure of a product. The product has a top
engineering part revision. A part can consist of anywhere from zero (0) to many child
parts which again can be further broken down into several child parts. The structure is
built in Engineering Part Revision/Consist Of, and all parts used must
be registered as engineering part revisions. It is not necessary to have a product defined
in order to access a product structure.
The structure contains, or can produce, information about:
- parts, where they are used and what they consist of
- a complete multilevel product structure
- activation of product structure to freeze the design
- characteristics calculation for a complete product structure
- single and multilevel product structures reports
- a product structure difference report, i.e., the difference between two product
structures
- rollup cost calculations - calculations on characteristic attributes
- status information
- tag information
- serial information
- spare part list
- approval routing
- document requirements
