Project delivery creates and delivers a customized product from a large set of standard parts; the process of which needs to be managed as a project (Ex: manufacture a submarine). This manufacturing process consists of the standard manufacturing operations that are associated with standard parts (Ex: operations that need to manufacture/assemble a nuclear reactor) and project specific operations that are associated with the project goals (Ex: operations that are used to install the reactor in the submarine’s reactor compartment).
There are three types of project operations in project delivery.
Operation Type | How to Identify |
Operations from Manufacturing Routings | Routing Operation check box will be selected. |
Template Operations | Template Operation check box will be selected. |
Project Specific Operations | Both the above check boxes will be cleared. |
For configurable project items, manufacturing routing operations are copied into the Project Operations tab according to the configuration rules defined in basic data. The basic data is based on selected configuration characteristics values. You can modify or remove copied operation lines as required, and the information in the Project Operation tab will appear in the shop order when you create project supply requests. You can use the Update Operation menu option to synchronize project operation lines with the latest manufacturing routing operation lines.
