Connect Symptom to Fault Type

Explanation

This activity is used to connect a symptom to a fault type which is defined for a function belonging to an item class.

Prerequisites

• A fault type must be defined for a function.
• A symptom must have been entered in the Work Order and PM Basic Data/Symptoms tab.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a symptom is connected to the fault type.

Procedure

1. Open the Failure Analysis Setup Navigator window.
2. Query for the item class.
3. On the navigator on the left pane, navigate to the fault type for which you want to connect a symptom and click on it.
4. On the right pane, create a new record on the Symptoms tab.
5. In the Symptoms tab, create a new record.
6. Use the List of Values to select the symptom you created in the Symptom field.
7. Optionally, enter text in the Notes field.
8. Save the record.
