Enter Combination Rules

Explanation

Use this activity to enter combination rules for a user group.

Prerequisites

Before information on the combination rules is entered, the following must have been completed:

To validate the internal ledger postings, the Validate Combination Rules check box must have been selected in Define Internal Ledgers window.

System Effects

As a result of this entry, the system checks that entered or created postings are valid according to the combination rules.

Procedure

Use the following procedure to enter the combination rules for a user group:

  1. Open Combination Rules.
  2. Use the New function and find the user group via the List of Values.
  3. Enter Allowed in the Allowed field.
  4. Mark all code parts with a percent sign (%) to set allowable code parts for the user group.
  5. Save the information.
  6. If you want some code parts to be not allowed for the same user group, then use the New function again. Enter the user group and 'Not Allowed' in the Allowed field. Then enter the information on the code parts. You can, for example, mark some code parts as blocked. It is possible for a combination of code parts on the two rows to be both legal and illegal. The illegal combination always takes precedence.
