Define Internal Ledger Posting Methods

Explanation

Use this activity to define posting methods to be used for the internal ledger. The posting methods are used when transactions are created outside the Internal Ledger.

Before the posting method information is entered, the following must have been completed:

Procedure

Use the following procedure to enter an internal posting method:

  1. Open Internal Posting Methods
  2. Use the New function to enter a new posting method.
  3. Specify the accounts for which the methods are valid. Enter a percent sign (%) if the method is to apply to all accounts or, e.g.,  3% if the method is to apply to all accounts beginning with 3.
  4. Specify if the handling for the method is Include or Exclude.
  5. If Include is chosen as handling for the method type, select the appropriate Posting Method for each used code part in the Internal Ledger.
  6. Specify the validity interval for the posting method.
  7. If the Method Type Fixed is selected for one or more code parts, mark that row and use the right mouse button operation Details. 
  8. In Internal Posting Method Details, specify how the distribution should be entered by indicating either Percentage or Amount as  Selection Base.
  9. Enter a valid code part value for each code part. The description of the code part value is displayed in the Description field if you use List of Values.
  10. If Percentage is chosen as Selection Base, enter a percentage value. If Amount is chosen, enter the amount and the percentage will be calculated automatically. Total percentage must always be 100 to be able to save.
  11. Enter one or more rows depending on the method you want to specify.
  12. Save the information in the Internal Posting Method Details when finished.
