Pack External Output File Info

Explanation

Use this activity to perform the pack output file information step after having triggered a call to the output package method (API) that has sent the output data to External Files.

This is the second step when performing a Complete Output Flow. The transactions created in External Files by calling an interface (API) will now be packed to a file line according to the file template instructions. If the pack step encounters errors then the each incorrect transaction will get an error status and the error can be seen in the Error Text column in the detail part of the External File Transactions window.

It is possible to edit the packed file lines directly in External File Transactions window before creating the output file.

Prerequisites

An external load must have been created and should be in state Loaded or Packed.

System Effects

The transaction data to be written to the external output file will be packed by using the pack instructions according to the external file template details and control statements associated with the output options for the template. The load will get the state Packed.
