Define External File Type Parameter Set

Explanation

Use this activity to define parameter sets for an external file type. The parameter sets are referred to when using a standard external interface, e.g. the External Supplier Invoices Interface, or when using the general External File Assistant in the External Files toolkit.

The purpose with the parameter sets is to be able to link one or more of the available file type parameters to the sets and thus making it possible to handle different parameters in different situations. One case is when the parameters to be supplied for input file processing are not the same as when processing an output file, leading to definition of one parameter set for input file processing and one other for output file processing.
One other possibility is to define different default values for the parameters by defining different parameter sets. When referring to a specific parameter set in the External File Assistant then the parameters will get the default values according to the definition for that set.

Prerequisites

An external file type must be available.
It is not possible to add or modify parameters for system defined file types.

System Effects

When both available parameters and parameter sets have been defined for a file type then it is possible to perform the step where available parameters are associated with the parameter sets.
