Correct External File Basic Data

Explanation

Use this activity to correct basic data definitions in the External Files toolkit.

When an input is processed, then the input file lines must be unpacked and when an output file is processed, then the output file lines must be packed, all according to the definitions on the referred external file template. If the unpack or pack activity fails, then the user will be made aware of this and all incorrect transactions will have text explaining the error. If the errors are related to the basic data set up for the external file type or the external file template, then perform this activity before executing the unpack or pack activity again.

Prerequisites

An external input file must have been unpacked or the output process must have been used to pack output file lines, and in either case errors must have been reported that are related to incorrect External Files basic data set up.

System Effects

The incorrect External Files basic data is corrected and the unpack or pack activity can be re-executed.
