Add/Remove Characteristics for a Part Configuration Revision
Explanation
Use this activity when you want to add or remove characteristics for a
configured part. The characteristics associated with a specific part configuration revision are
the only ones in the family that can be used in a configuration specification
for that part.
Prerequisites
- IFS/Configuration Back Office and IFS/Configuration
Characteristic must be installed.
- The configuration family must be created.
- The characteristics must be associated
with the configuration family.
- A configurable part
must have been entered and connected to the configuration family.
- At least one
configuration part specification revision must exist.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the characteristics for the part configuration
specification revision are changed accordingly. The characteristics are
displayed in the order of category id sequence and characteristic sequence.

Procedure
- In the
Part Configuration Revision window, query for the part whose
characteristics you want to edit.
- To add a characteristic, click New and add a new row to the table.
- In the Characteristic Sequence field, enter a number.
- In the Characteristic ID field, use the List of values to select an
ID.
- Use the remove function to remove a characteristic from a part configuration revision.
Note: You can only remove a characteristic from a part configuration revision
that is not used in any other objects.
- To remove a characteristic, select the row you need to remove, and then click Remove.
- Save the changes.
- To add an option, click New and add a new row in the table.
- To remove an option, select the characteristic you need to remove from the
upper table and select the row to be removed from the lower table, and
then click Remove.
Note: If the part configuration revision is in the Released state, a
characteristic option cannot be deleted, if any conditions or action rules exist
for an effective structure or routing or for a structure or routing that will be
effective in the future. Also, it cannot be deleted if rules exist related to
work instruction, tools and/or combination tables. To delete a characteristic
option value from a part configuration revision in the Released state, the rule must first
be removed.
