Define Document Type

Explanation

Use this activity to create a new document types. Document types are used for the extended EDM files and several of the document class process action features. Three document types (Original, View, and Redline) are installed with the product, and these document types cannot be removed. You can add as many other document types as you require.

Procedure

Creating new document types:

1. Open the EDM Basic/Document Type tab.
2. Click New to create an empty row.
3. Enter the name of the new document type in the Document Type field. This required field accepts a maximum of 12  characters.
4. Enter a description in the Description field.
5. Click Save to save your document type.

Removing document types:

1. Make sure the document type is not used in the document class process action configuration or in any file reference. If it is used, you cannot remove the document type. 
2. Remove the document type.
