Study Cost Variance per Bucket
Explanation
Use this function to compare part costs from different buckets. You can choose to study
all buckets connected to the part, or define a variance factor for the buckets you want to
study.
You can either:
- Show all cost buckets and then compare the cost sets selected on the
left and right side.
- Set a minimum variance factor to see only the cost buckets that differ
more than or equal to a certain factor between the two cost sets,
expressed in decimals (0,1 for 10%).
- Set a maximum variance factor to see only the cost buckets that differ
less than or equal to a certain factor between the two cost sets,
expressed in decimals (0,1 for 10%).
The minimum and maximum variance factors are always expressed as positive
numbers - it does not matter which cost set you select for which side.
Cost buckets that are present in only one of the alternatives will always
show regardless of the minimum and maximum variance factors.
Prerequisites
- The part you want to study must exist in at least two different cost sets.
- Costs must have been calculated for the part.

Procedure
- Open the Part Cost Bucket Variance window.
- Select the part for which you want to compare bucket costs.
- Select one of the radio buttons to specify whether you want to study all buckets, or
just some of them. If you select to study some of the buckets, define the variance factor
in the corresponding field.
- Click the Cost Build-Up/Cost Set tab.
- In the Cost Set list boxes, select the different cost sets for which you want to compare
the bucket costs.
