Release CRO Line to Work Order

Explanation

This activity is used to release a repair line to a work order. The repair order type determines the kind of environment the service should be processed in. The environment and the complexity of the service should determine which repair order type is to be used. A work order is the obvious choice for simple repairs in a maintenance environment.

The preferred repair order type is selected from the Repair Order Type field on the component repair order line. Based on the repair order type you select, the relevant option will be selected in the Process Repair dialog box. For work orders some additional information must be defined before you can release to repair. In the Work Order Info area, specify the repair shop ID and a maintenance organization.

Prerequisites

System Effects

A work order is created with a default work task and pegged to the component repair order line. A material order is created with the repair part(s) as a line in the Materials tab. This material line is linked to the default work task. The work order will be in Work Request status. You cannot delete this particular material line in the Materials tab since the line represents the part(s) to be repaired. When the work task is in Released status, the repair part(s) can be issued to the work order.
