Copying and Deleting Object Structures

Copy and deletion functionality enables you to quickly copy and remove objects. A new copied object is created from an older template object. Deleted objects will be removed.

Most design objects have a complicated relation structure. An object is related as a child or as a parent to another object, and objects usually have multiple relations. When copying and deleting, the entire object relation structure needs to be considered. Review the relation structure and plan how you will handle the relations.

Copying Objects

When an object structure is being copied, the Object ID proposed is determined by the source class' ID Model and you can select from options to copy the functional and/or locational structure of the source object.

Certain class definitions also influence copying object structures. When a class is first configured settings may be made for inheriting certain ID levels from its parent object. The following settings may be made for primary and secondary IDs:

Inherit Primary ID 01 - 10 from Parent: Used in some copying functions for the object's structure. Selecting the check box for a value (01 - 10) indicates that the Primary ID (01 - 10) needs to be inherited from the parent to a new object.

Inherit Secondary ID 01 - 10 from Parent: Used in some copying functions for object's structure. Selecting the check boxe for a value (01 - 10) indicates that the Secondary ID (01 - 10) needs to be inherited from the parent to a new object.

Deleting Objects

When an object structure is being deleted, you can select from options to delete the functional and/or locational structure of the object and whether to reflect the deletion in the originating client once the deletion is completed.
