Define Object Connection Type

Explanation

This activity is used to define an object connection type which can be then used to relate a design object to another design object or design part. The connection types defined here can be configured as class relations which in turn can be used in relating objects. These object connections will appear either under the object's structure in direct relational folders such as Design Parts or in the Object Connections folder.

  4. In the Class Relation Super Description field, enter a description of the super (parent) relation. This value can be used when defining super-object class relation.
  5. In the Class Relation Sub Description field, enter a description of the sub (child) relation. This value can be used when defining a sub-object class relation.
  6. In the Object Connection Super Description field, enter a description of the super (parent) object to identify the relation/serve as the Relation Description in the Design Object Connections window, when object relations are created and presented.
  7. In the Object Connection Sub Description field, enter a description of the sub (child) object to identify the relation/serve as the Object Connection Description in the Design Object Connections window, when object relations are created and presented.
  8. In the Connection Note field, enter a short note describing the connection type.
  9. Select the Super Only One check box if the super relation should be a one-to-many relation. If this check box is cleared (default), the relation will be many-to-many.
  10. Select the Sub Only One check box if the sub relation should be a many-to-one relation. If cleared (default), the relation will be many-to-many. If this check box and the Super Only One check box have both been selected, a one-to-one connection type is created. For example, use this connection type when relating a motor to a switchgear, or other relation that is one-to-one in both directions
  11. In the Equipment Object Connection Type field, use the List of Values to select the type of connection that should exist between two objects, when connected using this object connection type.
  12. Click Save.
