Design Object Transfer to Equipment

An object is created in IFS/Asset Design and automatically receives the design status of Under Design. An equipment object's operational status is set to Not Applicable. This means that the equipment object does not yet exist within IFS/Equipment.

During a project it may be necessary to create objects in IFS/Equipment even if those objects are still being designed in IFS/Asset Design. This creation of equipment objects in IFS/Equipment enables preventive maintenance to get a head start on the planning for assemblies and/or mechanical completion of the various equipment objects.

An equipment object can be created in IFS/Equipment by changing the design status for the design object in IFS/Asset Design. At this stage in the process, this is done with the Set Planned for Operation status change. An equipment object is created in IFS/Equipment with the Planned for Operation operational status of and the design object in IFS/Asset Design remains with the design status of Under Design. Design data can still be added to the design object, and that data can be sent to the equipment object by changing the design status to Completed.

At the end of the Asset Engineering phase, design objects and their data are transferred to equipment objects in IFS/Equipment to enable preventive and work order planning processes. Preventive maintenance and work order planning are performed within IFS Maintenance. The equipment objects need to exist in IFS/Equipment to start the maintenance work.

Design object data is sent from IFS/Asset Design to IFS/Equipment using a design status change. Changing the design status from Under Design to Completed or Planned for Operation creates an equipment object in IFS/Equipment and transfers the design object data to the equipment object.
